November Meeting Recap

Wow! We can’t believe it is November already. Last week, we had our monthly MOPS meeting. We were lucky to hear from Dr. Diane Pape, a senior lecturer in the Texas State University Education Program. She had many heartfelt, encouraging, and practical words of advice for moms of any stage, but particularly to young children. Before the presentation, moms had a chance to submit questions or rather, discussion points. Here are some takeaways from Dr. Pape’s talk: Let kids be kids! The most important thing for them right now is to have rich experiences, conversations, access to books, and socialization. Give your children plenty of sensory play, whether it is with water, mud, sand, playdough, etc. While screen time for young children needs more research, it is not particularly appropriate for children under the age of 2.
