MOPS San Marcos

Join us on Halloween at the First Baptist Church of San Marcos for their annual Fall Festival from 5:30-8pm! It's FREE and open to the public. There will be tons of games, food and a trunk or treat from 7:30-8pm. See you there!

Our service project that we do every November is Operation Christmas Child. Check out some ideas on how you can bless a child this Christmas:   We will be handing out empty boxes to fill at our November meeting and we'll provide a date as to when they need to be brought back to the First Baptist Church.

Our October meeting was a huge hit! A big thanks to our wonderful speaker Lynn Marie Cherry  for blessing us with your words.           We were able to step outside of our comfort zones while we did "Speed Friending"....     A big thank to the "Bloom" group for the yummy dinner last night! Also a big thanks to our Mentor Moms. We are so lucky to have these ladies join us and bless us with their wisdom. We also have a new Mentor Mom joining us, Teresa Pesek! We are so thrilled to have these ladies at our meetings.         

   

During our October meeting we will be packing Blessing Bags for the Southside Community Center. If you aren't familiar with Blessing Bags, they are gallon sized Ziploc bags that are filled with basic supplies for people in need. Here are some examples of items you can bring to fill your blessing bag in October: Travel shampoo/conditioner Travel toothpaste Toothbrushes Dental Floss Travel body wash Gum Deodorant Socks Gloves/Hat Non-perishable snacks Soap Hand sanitizer Sunscreen Washcloth Baby wipes Band-aids     MOPS will provide the Ziploc bags, we just ask that each member bring a few items to fill as many bags as you would like. Help us bless those in need this Fall!

Parent's Night Out is quickly approaching! You don't want to miss it!

What a great night we had to kick off to the new MOPS year! It was so much fun to meet some new faces and to visit with returning members. A big thanks to Author Erin MacPherson  for speaking to our group and bringing some of her books along. If you missed the meeting, make sure and check out her book, "Hot Mama: 12 Secrets to a Sizzling Hot Marriage" . We also want to thank some of our sponsors that donated to our meeting last night! Sweets by Sarah donated some delicious cupcakes, McKenna Children's Museum , The Jumpy Place  and Candy, Sweets & Treats  all donated some fantastic door prizes. Come join us on Wednesday nights at the First Baptist Church in San Marcos for bible study and children's choir! There is also a fellowship meal from 4:45-6pm in the foyer and the meal includes a Jason's Deli sandwich, chips, cookie and pickle. $6 per meal and reservations are required.

We have so many wonderful speakers lined up that will encourage and inspire you throughout this year. Do you know a mom that needs some time for herself and would like to meet new friends who are going through similar daily struggles? Looking to get the word out about your business? Advertising with MOPS/MOMSnext San Marcos is an affordable way to get exposure not only to our group, but throughout our community! Take a look at how we can represent you and your business:   Cost: $50.00 for one semester (August-December/January-May) $80.00 for the entire year (August-May) *Your business logo will be placed in our monthly newsletters that are handed out to our members (40+ Moms) at our monthly meetings. Your logo will also be placed in our meeting reminders that we hand out monthly to every parent in the First Baptist Church Mother's Day Out Program.   *You will have an electronic business ad (approximately the size of a business card) that will be posted on our blog and it will be linked back to the website of your choosing. Electronic ads will be posted on the blog until August of 2016.   *You will receive a free ad (business card size) in our San Market inform...

The 6th annual CTMC Baby Fest will be Sunday, July 26th from 1pm-4pm. It will be full of vendors, door prizes, tours and everything baby! If you are expecting, you won't want to miss out on this fun event. For a list of vendors and more information, check out their website here.

Creative Movement classes will soon be available at San Marcos Dance Studio for your littles! Register your 2-4 year old for the Wednesday class (2:15pm-3pm) or the Friday class (5-5:45pm). You can also register your 5-8 year old for the Friday class (5:45pm-6:30pm). View the online schedule here. Regular classes will start August 16th and Creative Movement will start the following week. Everyone is welcome to come try the class for free the first week if you register online so Ms. Karen is aware of who is coming. The San Marcos Dance Studio has been a wonderful supporter of MOPS/MOMSnext for several years, support the businesses that support MOPS!  

How much is a MOPS/MOMSnext membership? The International fee is a once a year payment of $24.95. Local dues are paid at each meeting when you sign in each month and that fee is $6. You may pay the $24.95 and local fee for the year ($6 x 9 months=$54) up front which would be a total of $80, or you may pay the $24.95 and pay the $6 each month, it is totally up to you. *See below about our September Special* What is the International MOPS fee? This fee is the once a year payment of $24.95. This is paid directly to the MOPS International organization. What is the Local fee? Local fees are $6/month and this fee helps us purchase supplies, decorations and other things that help our meetings function from month to month. Do I have to pay the dues at the first meeting I attend? No! Your first meeting is completely FREE !!! Come get your shop on at the San Market this Saturday, April 25th! Here is a map of where all of the vendors will be located this weekend. Enjoy shopping, sandwiches from Chick-fil-A, Elsa and Ana meet and greet, Texas State Cheerleaders, the San Marcos Fire Dept. and the fire truck, face painting, and much, much more! Bring the entire family for this special day of fun!
